Worship-- We gather for worship each Sunday morning at 10 o’clock, to be reminded who we are and Whose we are. In worship we offer God our praise and prayers, our music and the joys and concerns of our lives. We also listen for God’s Word for us and our world, and open ourselves up to be transformed for ministry.

We welcome all people of faith, or in search of faith, regardless of age, race, gender, socioeconomic condition or sexual orientation. Each Sunday morning we welcome those who might be visiting with us and invite everyone to join in a time of fellowship and refreshment after worship in our “Sunday Social.” Children are welcome to stay with us throughout worship, which includes a “Time for the Children in All of Us,” though following that time there is church school for children up through sixth grade. Nursery care is available throughout the worship time, under the experienced, loving care of our Nursery Supervisor.

Music is an important part of our worship, with our Adult Choir offering an anthem each week and our Jubellaire Ringers providing beautiful handbell music at least twice a month. New members of both choirs are always welcome, with the Adult Choir rehearsing Thursday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday mornings at 9, and Bell Choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 6.

Hearing assistance devices are available during worship, as well as large print hymnals and bulletins. Our building is wheel-chair accessible.

As we end each service we remind ourselves of our Commission by stating the following in unison: "Go forth into the world in peace; be of good courage; hold fast to that which is good; render to no one evil for evil; strengthen the fainthearted; support the weak; help the afflicted; honor all people; love and serve the Lord, rejoice in the power of the Holy Spirit."

Q. What can I expect if I come to a service at Second Congregational Church? - to be greeted by a friendly "Greeter" in the hallway leading to the sanctuary and by deacons (at the door to the sanctuary) handing out the bulletin that shows what happens in the 10am Sunday worship service - lots of music, friendly folks - Sunday school for children up to Grade 6 (during the school year) - Nursery care provided during the service all year - a time for refreshments and getting together with others after the service.

Q. What about if I don't know much about the Bible or haven't been to church before? We aim to have our services be both reverent and user-friendly. Most of what happens is led by the pastor or other long-time members and is listed in the bulletin. We worship as a community so you can follow folks near you (or ask them) if there is something you're not sure about.
