This is a scholarly but very readable history of the Bible from the earliest Torah narrations to its present forms, and also of the ways in which it has been used and interpreted.
Balaam's Courier Staff, Balaam's Unofficial Handbook of the United Church of Christ. The Balaam's Courier Staff is the group which prepares the daily newspaper distributed at each General Synod. It is a lighthearted but very informative guide to the history, organization, faith, practices of the United Church of Christ.
