We are in the brainstorming stage of exploring the possibilities of creating a Storytelling group at Second Congo. The idea is to meet on a regular basis, share our stories with each other and then somehow record these stories. Maybe meet weekly.
Either at church or in each other homes. In small groups perhaps of 3, rotating the people in each group each week. Only share one story per person each session. The recording of stories would be written, or tape recorded, or video taped.
The length of each story could be as short as one paragraph or as long as several pages. We would start out concentrating on stories of our memories of church experiences when we were kids, or young people and what the church experience was for us.
The goal is to record our stories for our church and our families. The goal is to sharpen our listening skills. The goal is for us to think about our individual church experiences and how that relates to our expectations. The goal is to get to know each other more intimately and understand what church means to each other.
